Raewyn Smith recently graduated from California State University, Northridge with a B.A. in Journalism. Throughout her college career she undertook projects in multimedia, video, photography, social media and the written word both as a student and as a freelancer. She has written freelance for a few publications, interned for a couple of magazines and written for her school paper both in high school and in college.
At 6, Raewyn loved watching the news, reading magazines, and doing any projects at school that resembled a newspaper. She never realized her overactive love for journalism until she joined my high school newspaper staff. She threw herself into the thrill of journalism - interviewing, editing, layouts and photography fed her endless curiosity. Through it, she realized her dream to be a journalist.
She furthered her journalism education at The Ohio State University for two years, before returning to sunny California to graduate in Spring 2012. In addition to writing for publications, Raewyn maintains a blog empowering young women to be themselves. Someday, she wants to morph her blog into a magazine, entering into the competitive world where 90% of magazines fail within their first year. She is determined to succeed.
